Barbara's Barn

On Angel Wings ...

Prologue

He healeth the broken in heart,
and bindeth up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3

What happened in the story you are about to read did not alter history. It was not headlined in the newspapers. The ten o’clock news did not report it. What did take place was a healing for broken hearts and hope to wounded souls.
It is my hope that this simple story will illustrate that not all events have to be of cosmic proportion to significantly change lives.
Sometimes it’s the little things that happen that make us stop and reflect.
Life is made up of tiny fragments of time, not the epiphanies that we look for. It’s those little moments, the butterfly on your shoulder, the double rainbow a canvas sky that could so easily pass by - unnoticed, unseen. It’s those little things that cause us to pause in our hectic schedules and allow our faith to be renewed ... Our beliefs to be re-examined.
I believe that in every person there is a story waiting to be told.
You do not need to travel to uncharted places to find your particular story. Often, its roots lie deep in the recesses of your heart.
Sometimes, though, someone will come along and, directly or indirectly, rewrite your story, changing it completely.
In the course of history, we can look back and see where one event has had a great effect on someone or something, thousands of miles away. Where people may never have had the opportunity to meet ... their lives never to touch. Then, something  occurs  and hearts are intertwined and llives are changed forever.
And so it was for an old woodcarver from a small village in New Mexico, and a ten-year-old girl living on an island in South Carolina.
